#SMEPME Twitter Chat — Boost your patents IQ
In recognition of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Canada Business Network is hosting a Twitter chat with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) on November 19, 2015 about the basics of patents and how they can be used as a business asset. CIPO will also present general information about how a patent application is processed.
The Canada Business Network (CBN) provides Canadian entrepreneurs with the resources they need to grow and prosper, including a wide range of information on federal and provincial/territorial government services, programs and regulations. Small business owners are not always aware of the need for a patent and how to go about applying for one, so our guest will answer your questions about patents.
Christine Teixeira from CIPO will discuss patents and how they can be used as a tool for small business. Some of the topics will include the application process and the importance of protecting your innovation. Christine is the project coordinator for patent examination practices. She joined CIPO 11 years ago as a patent examiner in the Biotechnology Division. Previously, Christine worked as a research scientist for Canadian pharmaceutical companies.
CIPO is an agency of Industry Canada, responsible for the administration and processing of intellectual property in Canada (trademarks, patents, copyright, and industrial designs).
