NAICS transition from 2007 to 2017

In order to remain consistent with changes made to the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) by Statistics Canada, Canada Business Network (CBN) website will be transitioned from NAICS 2007 to NAICS 2017. As a result of this update, CBN content can stay current and relevant with the most up to date, relevant industry sectors.

There were a number of changes made from 2007 to 2017, including some NAICS codes which were added or removed, as well as NAICS title changes. If you wish to view changes, please visit Statistics Canada website;

From a clients' perspective, there will be no impact to the client experience other a change to some of the NAICS titles that might be displayed in CBN searches.

Users of the CBN API who are caching the data will need to refresh their cache to get the new data.

The expected timeline for completion is the end of September 2017.

If you require extra time to get prepared for this change, please let us know. Depending on how you are using CBN API, this may or may not impact you.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Thank you,
CBN team
