Marketing your products and services to Canada's federal, provincial/territorial and municipal governments can be very lucrative. As a business owner, you know that a reliable customer with a proven track record is a valuable asset. The question is: How do you go about accessing government contracts?

In Canada, the various levels of government purchase goods and services at an incredibly high rate, but the contracting process may seem arduous. The system is in place for a reason, however; it ensures that all Canadian businesses, including yours, get a fair shot at landing contracts.

MERX, Canada's electronic tendering service, handles billions of dollars each year in public tenders. Contracts for products and services sought by Canada's governments range in value from hundreds of dollars into the millions, and can all be found at this "one-stop shop" for public procurement.

All federal government public tenders listed on MERX are free to access. To begin viewing and ordering public tenders, take a look at the subscription options offered by MERX, and then start shopping for customers!

The biggest problem with the government's good intention is the deploymet way of getting the funds to the actual people hard hit with the economic downturn. I am in great need of funds to get my business up and the Canada Small Business Loan Program and the Credit Availability program is meant for established organizations in the hurdles I have met. If there is something that really works out there, please point me in that direction.
