Calling on Women Entrepreneurs: Don't miss Detroit in June
This guest blog post is provided by the Business Women in International Trade (BWIT), a program within the Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) at Global Affairs Canada, which supports Canadian women entrepreneurs as they pursue opportunities in international markets.
Detroit in June is the place to be for Canadian women-owned companies who are looking for procurement opportunities. That will be the location of the annual Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) National Conference and Business Fair. WBENC is the world's largest conference targeted to women entrepreneurs who want to access supplier diversity opportunities through U.S. Fortune 500 companies. This year Detroit, Michigan is hosting and the event runs from June 18 - 21, 2018.
This dynamic conference will feature three days of acclaimed speakers, executive workshops, matchmaking, and networking opportunities, including the WBENC Business Fair — with more than 300 exhibitors and procurement specialists. For the 10th year, the Business Women in International Trade (BWIT) program at Global Affairs Canada will be leading a trade mission to WBENC. Last year, BWIT's delegation was over 90; we hope even more women-owned businesses will join us in 2018. If you have a Canadian woman-owned enterprise and are ready to take your business to the next level and begin exporting or expand your exports to grow your market share, this is an excellent opportunity. It's close to home, too!
The conference offers exclusive access to corporations and government agencies interested in doing business with women-owned suppliers. These are corporations with supplier diversity programs which help women access valuable networks, globalize, and grow their businesses.
The BWIT trade mission to WBENC will offer B2B matchmaking meetings (1:1 MatchMakers), educational programming, valuable networking, and on-the-ground support from Canadian trade commissioners! It is free to join the trade mission, but participants must register for the WBENC conference and pay their own travel and hotel costs. We encourage you to visit BWIT's trade mission webpage for more information about the trade mission, the WBENC conference and how to register! WBENC registration opens January 23, 2018 and in order to participate in 1:1 MatchMakers, you must register by April 2, 2018.
So if you are looking to join a BWIT trade mission in 2018, the mission to WBENC is an excellent option. Through it you will: connect with an international group of like-minded business women; be exposed to new ideas and trends in the marketplace; and leave with new business connections and leads. Please visit the BWIT website to learn of other trade missions planned for 2018.
