ROE Web Tutorials to Make Your Job Easier
This guest blog post is provided by Service Canada, which offers Canadians a single point of access to a wide range of Government of Canada programs and services either in person, by phone, by Internet, or by mail.
As we told you last year, ROE Web makes it easy to fill out employment records. Since our last blog post, we have developed some tools to make it even easier to fill out ROEs and use ROE web.
Each year, about 600,000 Canadian employers fill out more than 8 million Record of Employment (ROE) forms for their employees. Service Canada uses the information on the ROE to determine if employees are eligible to receive Employment Insurance (EI) benefits.
The guide, How to Complete the Record of Employment Form, explains in detail how to fill out an ROE to help employers and payroll staff with this process. However, while it is comprehensive, it is a very lengthy document. For this reason, five online tutorials were created to summarize some of the most commonly used sections of the guide.
While the tutorials were designed to complement the guide, they can also be used on their own as an aid to completing ROEs, whether paper or electronic. They offer a basic step-by-step walk-through of the ROE, with visual examples of the form.
By following these tips, employers can complete the ROE correctly and minimize phone calls from Service Canada agents to clarify or revise their ROE information. Fewer calls save time and money.
